Shahjahanpur, July 11 (HS). Due to the rising water level of Garra, Khannaut and other rivers, many parts of the district have been submerged. On Thursday, the Government Medical College was evacuated after floodwater entered it. The patients admitted there had to be shifted to other hospitals. At the same time, on the Lucknow-Delhi National Highway, near Maujampur village, vehicular traffic has been stopped and vehicles are being taken out by diverting the route after floodwater came on the highway. The district administration had to completely close traffic on Subhash Nagar to Nagariya Mod road due to heavy waterlogging.
District Magistrate Umesh Pratap Singh and Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena also visited the flood affected areas. When water reached Awas Vikas Colony, the District Magistrate instructed the NDRF team to carry out rescue operations and evacuate people trapped in Umarganj. When the water level increased in the Autonomous State Medical College, the District Magistrate instructed the Chief Medical Officer and Principal to shift the admitted patients to other hospitals by ambulance.
Chief Medical Officer RK Gautam said that the patients admitted in the medical college are being shifted to hospitals like Community Health Center Bhawal Kheda, Dadraul, Varun Arjun, Satyanand and Krishna Hospital etc. The District Magistrate has deputed two additional magistrates in the college to shift the patients and oversee other arrangements.
When flood water reached the cowshed located at Maghai Tola, the cattle and care takers got trapped. The District Magistrate instructed the Deputy Municipal Commissioner to immediately evacuate the cattle and care takers and take them to a safe place and make arrangements for fodder and water for the cattle.
