India has fallen one place in the list of the world's most powerful passports. According to the recently released Henley Passport Index 2024, India's latest ranking has become 85. Whereas the world's strongest passport is from France. Despite many countries announcing visa-free entry, India's decline in passport ranking is shocking. This list includes data of 199 passports.
France on top
France's passport has topped this list. Its passport provides visa-free entry to 194 countries. In 2023, India was at 84th position. However, this year Indians can travel duty-free to five more countries compared to last year. Indians could travel visa-free to 57 countries in 2023, but this year the figure has increased to 62.
Iran, Malaysia and Thailand have recently announced visa-free entry for Indian tourists. 6 countries in the world have the most powerful passports. Which includes Japan, Singapore, Spain, France, Italy and Germany. The ranking is based on data from the International Air Transport Association. Neighboring country Pakistan has the fourth weakest passport in the world. The ranking of Pakistan passport is 106. Whereas Bangladesh has moved from 101st to 102nd position this year. While Maldives is ranked 58th whose citizens can get visa-free entry to 96 countries.
Ranking of China and America
There has been a slight improvement in China's ranking. China was at number 66 in 2023, which is now at number 64. America's ranking has also improved. It has come down from 7th place to 6th place. Americans can travel visa-free to 189 countries.
