There was a traffic jam from Gagnani to Harshil from Sunday night to Monday evening. Passengers should remain light. Seeing the situation worsening, the police stopped vehicles at Uttarkashi, Bhatwadi, Shiv Gufa, Naguna Barrier in the afternoon and reduced the pressure on vehicles going towards Gangotri. Along with this, many devotees stuck in the jam returned without coming to Uttarkashi. In fact, due to jam on Yamunotri Yatra route last Sunday, hundreds of pilgrims changed their route and headed towards Gangotri Dham. Passengers from Damla started reaching Gangotri via Bernigad and Radi Top Bypass. In such a situation, due to the arrival of more devotees than the capacity, the situation in the Ganga valley started deteriorating from Sunday night itself. Due to the departure of pilgrims from the assembly constituencies of Uttarkashi, Bhatwadi etc. early on Monday for Gangotri Dham, there was a traffic jam of about 60 km from Gangnani to Harshit on Gangotri Highway. In such a situation, vehicles going to Gangotri from one side and vehicles returning from the other side got stuck in the narrow roads. On Monday, vehicles going to Gangotri got stuck in traffic jam at Gangnani. Along with this, vehicles returning from Gangotri blocked the road from Dharali to Harshit, Jhala Band, Sukhi Top. This situation continued throughout the day. Many passengers remained stuck in the jam for 24 hours.

Such Superintendent Arpan Yadavvanshi told that in Gangotri Dham Parking Due to being completely full and increasing number of passengers, all the passengers going to Gangotri Dham on Monday afternoon were not allowed to go beyond Netala. Keeping in view the safety of the passengers, it has been stopped at places like Nagun Barrier, Shivgufa Brahmakhal, Uttarkashi, Netala, Hina etc. Until the vehicular pressure from Gagnani to Gangotri is reduced, passengers will not be allowed to proceed further. On Monday, there was a problem due to a vehicle breaking down near Jhala in Sukhi. Due to this the vehicles stopped on the road. This increased the traffic jam. Passengers returning from Gangotri also got stuck on the way. In such a situation, passengers going to Gangotri from below also had to be stopped.
