Parliament Monsoon Session 2026: The seating arrangement and power equation have changed, there will be a huge fight over 5 new big bills from today

The biggest center of the country’s politics i.e. Parliament is going to witness a new political battle from today. The monsoon session of 2026 will start from today (July 20) and continue till August 13, but even before the beginning of the session, the political temperature in the capital Delhi has reached sky high. While the government is preparing to pass many important bills amidst the changed equations, the opposition has made up its mind to surround the proceedings of the House from the very first day. It is clear from the sharp attitude seen in the all-party meeting held on Sunday that this time the session is going to be extremely turbulent.

Ruckus in all party meeting and opposition walkout

In the all-party meeting called by the government for the smooth running of the House, the opposition adopted an aggressive stance from the very beginning. Several major opposition parties, including Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), DMK, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), JMM and Shiv Sena (UBT), expressed strong protest when a group of 20 rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs were invited to the meeting. The opposition alleges that on what basis were the MPs invited, whose decision on the merger is still pending from the Lok Sabha Speaker? Expressing displeasure over this issue, the opposition group conducted a symbolic walkout from the meeting, which has shown the trailer of the huge uproar on the very first day of the session.

Geography of seats changed within the Parliament

This time in the monsoon session, not only the political debate will change, but the scene inside the Parliament will also be seen changed. A major change has been made in the seating arrangement of a total of 48 MPs in the Lok Sabha. 20 rebel MPs of TMC will now be seen on seats with NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), while 6 MPs who broke away from Shiv Sena’s Uddhav faction will now be seen sitting in the Shinde faction. Apart from this, 22 DMK MPs will also sit separately from the opposition block. This new equation of seats is giving a new political message between the ruling and opposition within the House.

Government will present these 5 big bills

During this session lasting 24 days, the Modi government is going to table five new and very important bills in the House. The list of these bills included in the government agenda is as follows:

1. Income-Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026: To replace the existing ordinance.

2. Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026: To replace the ordinance.

3. Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026

4. Prevention of Insults to National Honor (Amendment) Bill, 2026

5. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026

Sharp political conflict likely over inflation and unemployment

According to experts, apart from these bills, there is a possibility of maximum dispute in the House on the fundamental issues of the country. The opposition camp has made a strategy to corner the government from all sides regarding inflation, unemployment, farmers’ problems and the latest situation in the country. Amid the changed political situation after the Bengal elections, the opposition is worried that the government may not easily pass any major bill on the basis of numbers. This is the reason why a heated debate can be seen between the two sides from the very first day.
