Paris, 06 September (HS). Indian players' excellent performance continues in Paris Paralympics 2024. India's para athlete Praveen Kumar has added another medal to India's kitty. He has won the gold medal in the men's high jump T64 event. This is India's sixth gold medal in Paris Paralympics, while it is the 26th medal. India now has 6 gold, 9 silver and 11 bronze medals in its account.
21-year-old Indian athlete Praveen secured the first position in the final of the Men's High Jump T64 event by jumping 2.08 meters. In this event, Derek Losident of America finished second with 2.06 meters and won the silver medal. Temurbek Ziyazov of Uzbekistan secured the third position with a jump of 2.03 meters and won the bronze medal. This is Praveen's second consecutive medal in the Paralympics. Earlier, he had won the silver medal in the Tokyo Paralympics with his best effort of 2.07 meters.
6 gold medals won for the first time in Paralympics
This is India's sixth gold medal in Paris Paralympics. India has won six gold medals in Paralympic Games for the first time. Earlier, India had won 5 gold medals in Tokyo Paralympics. India won 5 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals in Tokyo Paralympics 2020. With a total of 19 medals, this was India's best performance in Paralympic Games. In Paris Paralympics, Indian players have surpassed this and have given the best performance ever. India has won a total of 26 medals so far, out of which 6 are gold, 9 silver and 11 bronze medals. India has come at number 14 in the medal tally.
