Who is Mona Agarwal?

The story of Mona Agarwal, who won a bronze medal for India in the Paris Paralympics, is very inspiring. She has struggled a lot to reach the Paris Paralympics. Born in Sikar, Rajasthan, Mona was unable to walk since childhood due to polio. Apart from this, she also had to face many taunts of the society. Due to which she could not even complete her studies. Not giving up, Mona decided to become a para-shooter. Her grandmother inspired her for this.

I didn't have the money to buy a wheelchair.

Mona Agarwal also won a gold medal in the Para Shooting World Cup this year. This also had a significant impact on her preparations for the Paris Paralympic Games. She won the gold medal at the World Cup held in Delhi in March and India received the ninth and final quota for the Paralympic Games. She used the prize money from sponsors to buy a rifle at her own expense and go to a competition in Korea. After this, she did not have enough money to buy a wheelchair. She appealed to the Sports Authority of India for financial help. Mona needed Rs 6 lakh for a wheelchair.

Started training after marriage, coach played a big role in this

Mona Agarwal started shooting training in 2021 after marriage. She started shooting training at Eklavya Sports Shooting Academy, 500 meters away from her father-in-law's house in Jothwar, Rajasthan. Her path was very difficult considering the cost of taking the sport forward. In such a situation, coach Yogesh Shekhawat played a big role in taking Mona's game to the top by waiving her fees.

Husband is also a para athlete

Mona Agarwal is a mother of two children. She has a son named Avik Agarwal, while her daughter's name is RV Agarwal. Mona's husband Ravindra Chaudhary is also a para-athlete. He got injured in the accident, due to which he is currently resting at home.

India won the gold medal in this event

Mona Agarwal scored 228.7 in the medal match at the Paris Paralympics to finish third. In this event, South Korea's Unri Lee scored 246.8 to win the silver medal and India's Avani Lekhara scored 249.7 to win the gold medal.
