Paris, March 5 (HS). The iconic posters for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, designed by French painter Ugo Gattoni, were released at the Musée d'Orsay on Monday. The posters are Art Deco-style inspired by the city's glorious past.
A giant edition of the posters was displayed at the famous art museum and will be kept there till March 10 for visitors from all over the world.
Tony Estanguet, president of the Paris 2024 organizing committee, was quoted by Xinhua as saying, “For the first time at the Summer Games, the iconic poster takes the form of a diptych with the same artistic direction. “They are two independent posters telling the story of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which when put together, tell the full story of Paris 2024.”
With rich details, the posters depict a dream-like depiction of a stadium city, echoing the Paris 2024 slogan “Games Wide Open” and reflecting the ambition of the organisers.
Many elements, symbols and values representing Paris 2024, Olympism and Paralympism are featured on the poster, including emblems of the Games, special designs and renewals from Paris 2024, and iconic elements representing Paris and France. All Olympic and Paralympic disciplines can also be seen on the posters.
Gattoni said, “When I was asked to design the iconic poster for Paris 2024, I immediately imagined the stadium of a city open to the world, a time in which you can walk around in a microcosm where the monuments of Paris and Sports disciplines happily co-exist.”
The posters will be available to purchase at the Musée d'Orsay and the Paris 2024 Shop website. From March 5, they will also be made available in Paris 2024 stores and Paris 2024 Games partner FNAC.
