Paris, August 3 (HS). Serbia's star tennis player Novak Djokovic defeated Italy's Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-2 to enter his first Olympic final late on Friday night. Djokovic will now face Carlos Alcaraz in the gold medal match.
The 37-year-old faced tough competition from Lorenzo Musetti on Court Philippe Chatrier in a high-quality match that saw Djokovic find himself troubled at times but hold on in crucial moments to secure the win.
Top seed Djokovic had lost his previous three Olympic singles semi-finals and the gold medal would prove to be the only major milestone of his career.
Djokovic will face Spain's Alcaraz in the gold medal match on Sunday, while 11th seed Musetti will take on Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime for the bronze medal.
