Paralympics: Cash awards have been announced for Indian para athletes who won medals at the Paris Paralympics. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced this on Tuesday. In the recently concluded games, India performed the best in its history and won a total of 29 medals including seven gold. It has been decided to give Rs 75 lakh to the players who won gold medals in Paris, Rs 50 lakh to the silver medalist and Rs 30 lakh to the bronze medalist. Apart from this, Rs 22.5 lakh will be given to the medal winners in the mixed team.

With its stellar performance, India has also crossed the 50 medal mark in the history of the Paralympic Games. On returning home on Tuesday, the Paralympic medal winners were warmly welcomed by hundreds of fans with flowers, garlands and sweets. Mandaviya also promised to provide full support and facilities to para athletes to win more medals in the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics. He said the country is moving ahead in Paralympics and para sports. From four medals in 2016, India won 19 in Tokyo and 29 in Paris and finished 18th.
