Paolini will face Barbora Krejcikova in the title match

London, July 12 (HS). Jasmine Paolini of Italy and Barbora Krejcikova of Czech Republic reached the women's singles final of the Wimbledon Championships on Thursday. 2021 French Open champion Krejcikova defeated 2022 Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Paolini defeated Croatia's Donna Vekic 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8) in a thrilling match that lasted two hours and 51 minutes.

28-year-old Paolini had finished runner-up at the French Open just a month ago and was seeded seventh at Wimbledon. Although she had never won a main draw match at Wimbledon, she became the second player to reach consecutive French Open and Wimbledon finals; the last female legend to reach consecutive titles in both Paris and London was Serena Williams.

“It was really tough. She was hitting winning shots everywhere and I was struggling. But I told myself to fight and there is no better place than here to fight for every ball. I will always remember this,” a smiling Paolini said after the match.

Later in the second match on Centre Court, Krejcikova had a similar experience as Paolini.
After losing the first set 6-3 to former French Open champion and 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, she came back to beat the fourth seed 6-3, 6-4 in the second and third sets to win the match 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
