Nature’s wrath: Guru Sahib’s family could not be reunited

Tears flow from the eyes of every person after listening to the stories of family separation of the tenth father Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. In the midnight of 6th 7th of 1704, heavy rain, rain and lightning havoc separated the family of Guru Gobind Singh from each other and the younger Sahibzade, somewhere became Mata Sahib Kaur, Mata Sundar Kaur. The Sarsa river created such a fury that Guru Sahib’s family could not be reunited. Sikh historians, poets, writers and singers have brilliantly presented this hour of anger through heart-wrenching poems, songs, Shabad Kitaras, listening to which the eyes of the devotees became moist. On Friday, when the Sangats of the area performed Sukhmani Sahib in Gurdwara Sahib. While chanting was being done, tears were flowing from the eyes of the Sangats.

According to historians, during the isolation on the Sarsa River, Mata Gujar Kaur and her younger sons Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh went to the banks of the Sarsa River in the dark night and had darshan of Baba Kumma Mashki, who was a boatman. He reached the hut built in Chak Dher on the banks of river Sarsa in his village, where he prepared prasad from the house of Mata Laxmi of village Chak Dher and fed it to Mata ji and Sahibzada etc. Stayed in this hut on Poh night where he met Gangu Brahmin. According to historians, the next morning Gangu took Brahmin mother Gujjar Kaur and Sahibzada with him to this place. Now at this place Gurudwara Mata Gujar Kaur Ji and the Samadhi place of Chhote Sahibzade, Chhan Baba Kakam Mashki Ji have been built.

100 Singhs of the group were martyred during an encounter with the army near village Malakpur.

On the night of 6, 7 Poh, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, while leaving the fort of Sri Anandpur Sahib, had divided the Wahir into different parts, when the procession of Bhai Bachitar Singh moved forward after crossing the Sarsa river. According to the book ‘Guru De Sher’ by Sikh historian Harjinder Singh Dilgir, the command of the third batch of this Wahir was with Bhai Bachitar Singh, who was given the responsibility of stopping the Mughal army coming from Sirhind and Ropar. When this party reached Malakpur Ranghar village, now called Malakpur, this party had an encounter with the local Ranghars and the army of Sirhind. Meanwhile, 100 Singhs of the group were martyred and Bhai Bachitar Singh was seriously injured. Now this place is the site of Gurdwara Singh Sabha.
