Punjab News: There have been reports of violence, booth capturing and other irregularities at many places during the Panchayat elections in Punjab on Tuesday. After receiving the report from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the districts, the Election Commission has decided to conduct re-panchayat elections in 8 panchayats of 4 districts. However, the date when the re-election will be held has not been announced. A decision in this regard will also be taken soon. The places where re-elections are to be held include 8 panchayats of Mansa, Firozpur, Moga and Patiala districts.

According to the information received from the Election Commission, there will be re-election for Sarpanch and 5 posts in Mansa Khurd Panchayat of Mansa district. Similarly, Panchayat elections will be held again in Lohke Khurd village of Firozpur. Re-voting has been ordered at polling booth numbers 118 and 119 of Panchayat Kotla Mehar Singh Wala of Moga district. It has been decided to hold re-elections in Village Khudda Block (Sangrur), Gram Panchayat Geri Raju Block Bhunerheri and Gram Panchayat Karim Nagar of District Patiala.

Similarly, the Election Commission has ordered to cancel the election of Gram Panchayat Lakhmir North, Block Madmot District Firozpur. Because voters faced difficulties in voting.

Re-elections will be held due to death of candidates

Apart from this, due to the death of the candidates, the Commission has postponed the elections of two Panchayats. These include Gram Panchayat Langomahal Block Ramdas and Gram Panchayat Kallu Sohal Block Kahanuwan.

13937 panchayats in the state

There are a total of 13,937 gram panchayats in the state. Of these, 3798 Sarpanches have already been elected unopposed. Along with this, 48861 judges have also been announced without voting. Apart from this, votes were cast for 25588 Sarpanch posts and 80598 Panch posts. This election was conducted through ballot paper.
