On the last day of filing of nominations for the Panchayat elections to be held in 89 villages falling under the border block Kalanaur, long queues of candidates contesting the elections of Sarpanch and Panch were forming since morning at various centers established in Kalanaur. Speaking to Jagran, on the occasion of inspection of various nomination centers of Kalanaur on Friday, SSP Harish Dayama said that strict legal action will be taken against those who disturb peace during nomination filing.
He said that apart from Punjab Police, SWAT teams are keeping a close watch on the centres. He said that cameras have also been installed for surveillance. The SSP said that a large number of police personnel have been deployed at the centers in order to conduct the nominations peacefully. On this occasion, he said that the time for filing nomination should be expedited so that every candidate can file nomination papers without any hassle.
