First day: Dhanteras (Friday, 18 October 2025) This day is the day of shopping. It is believed that anything purchased on this day increases in value thirteen times. This day is dedicated to Lord Dhanvantari, Mother Lakshmi and Kuber God. What to buy: Gold, silver, brass utensils, broom, coriander. Auspicious time of worship: 05:46 pm to 08:21 pm (Pradosh Kaal). Yama’s lamp: Do not forget to light a lamp in the name of Yama outside the house on this evening, it averts the fear of untimely death. Second day: Narak Chaturdashi. Or Chhoti Diwali (Saturday, 19 October 2025), this day is also called Roop Chaudas and Kali Chaudas. It is believed that on this day Lord Shri Krishna killed Narakasura and freed 16 thousand girls from his captivity. Taking bath in the morning with oil and paste on this day enhances beauty and eliminates the fear of going to hell. Timing of Abhyanga Snan: 05:09 AM to 06:24 AM. Third Day: Diwali or Badi Diwali (Sunday, 20 October 2025) This is the main day of the five-day festival. On this day Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya after completing 14 years of exile. On this day, Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and Lord Ganesha, the God of wisdom, are worshiped in the evening. Auspicious time of Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja: 06:05 pm to 08:31 pm. Mahanishith Kaal Puja: 11:39 pm to 12:30 am. Fourth day: Govardhan Puja (Monday, 21 October 2025). It is also called Annakoot Puja. On this day, Lord Shri Krishna lifted Govardhan Mountain on his little finger to break the ego of Indra. On this day, Govardhan Parvat is made from cow dung and worshiped in the courtyard of the house and Annakoot with 56 offerings is prepared. Auspicious time of worship: 06:25 am to 08:40 am. Fifth day: Bhai Dooj (Tuesday, 22 October 2025). This festival is a symbol of the unbreakable love between brother and sister.
