Palamu, September 25 (HS). As the Jharkhand assembly elections are approaching, political parties have made Palamu division their electoral battlefield. Leaders of almost all major parties, except Congress, are making their presence felt in this region and are finalizing their pre-election strategies. Political activities have intensified especially between BJP and JMM.
On 21 September, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh started the BJP's Parivartan Yatra after offering prayers at Radhakrishna Temple in Banshidhar Nagar, Palamu. The purpose of this yatra is to change the power in the state and strengthen the BJP. Through this yatra, the BJP is trying to give a message to the public to overthrow the current government of the state.
In response to the BJP's Parivartan Yatra, JMM started the Maiya Samman Yatra on September 23 by offering prayers at the same Radhakrishna temple in Banshidharnagar. Three prominent women leaders – Kalpana Soren, minister Baby Devi and Congress quota minister Deepika Pandey Singh played an important role in this journey of JMM. Along with them, Jharkhand government minister Mithilesh Thakur also participated in this journey.
JMM aims to respond to BJP's message and establish its dominance in the electoral field through women empowerment. Meanwhile, the NDA alliance is also not far behind. On September 23, Lok Janshakti Party leader and Union Minister Chirag Paswan made his presence felt in Leslieganj, Palamu. In his speech, Chirag fiercely targeted the current government of the state and tried to create an atmosphere in favor of the NDA.
Amid the heat of the election battle between the BJP and the JMM, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has also become active. The divisional conference of the RJD is proposed on 29 September, which will further heat up the political atmosphere in the region. The state president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which generally follows the policy of 'Ekala Chalo' in Jharkhand, is also busy in laying the foundation stone and inaugurating schemes before the elections. He is using both offline and online mediums to strengthen his hold in the election environment.
These days Palamu division has turned into a political arena. On one hand BJP's Parivartan Yatra is demanding change of power, on the other hand JMM's Mainiya Samman Yatra is being seen as a strategy for women empowerment and against BJP. Leaders of NDA and opposition parties have also entered the electoral fray, which makes it clear that Palamu division will become the main center of political battle before the upcoming assembly elections.
