Pakistani security forces killed 10 terrorists, intelligence operation lasted for two days

Media report Dawn has given this news quoting Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to the army's media wing, the operation lasted for two days, Friday and Saturday.

ISPR issued a press statement on Sunday saying that four terrorists were killed during an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) on Saturday night. Later during the operation, security forces successfully killed four more terrorists, Dawn quoted the release as saying.

Infiltration attempt on Pakistan-Afghanistan border

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in the district, ISPR said it has identified five terrorists who were trying to infiltrate along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Two terrorists Hazrat Umar and Rehman Niaz were killed, while three other terrorists were injured.

Terrorist activities increased in Balochistan

According to a Dawn report, Pakistan has repeatedly asked the interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on its side of the border. Earlier on Wednesday, security forces had killed two terrorists in separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district. Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist activities in the past year, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, after the banned terrorist Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan ended the ceasefire with the government in November 2022.

789 terrorist attacks in Pakistan in 2023

According to the annual security report of the Center for Research and Security Studies, counter-terrorism operations in Pakistan led to 789 terrorist attacks and 1,524 deaths and 1,463 injuries in 2023, the highest in the six-year record. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan were the main epicenters of violence, accounting for more than 90 percent of the deaths and 84 percent of the attacks, including acts of terrorism and security forces.
