ICC Champions Trophy Row: There is constant turmoil in the Champions Trophy 2025. Continuous meetings are being held regarding organizing the tournament, but no solution has been found yet. Next year this tournament is going to be held in Pakistan. The Indian team is not going to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. BCCI is demanding hybrid model. Whereas PCB wants to host the entire tournament in Pakistan itself. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has entered this whole matter.

PM gave full support

Shahbaz Sharif has assured Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi of his ‘full support’ in hosting the Champions Trophy next year. He appreciated the PCB chairman’s stance on India’s refusal to play in the mega event in Pakistan. Sharif said, ‘The country should maintain its self-respect while facing this issue.’ Sharif is also the patron of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Naqveen Sharif said, ‘It is not all about money and Pakistan should fight this issue keeping in mind its self-respect and pride. People’s feelings should also be taken care of.

Indian team can play its match in Dubai

According to a top ICC source, the game’s global governing board has reached a consensus to host the Champions Trophy in a hybrid model. India will theoretically be allowed to play their part of the matches in Dubai. Naqvi on Sunday informed Sharif about the developments behind the scenes.

Fusion formula not acceptable to BCCI

Naqvi said, ‘The attitude adopted by the PCB regarding the Champions Trophy after India’s refusal to play in Pakistan reflects the sentiments of Pakistanis.’

According to another government source, Naqvi met the Prime Minister at short notice to brief Pakistan on the next decision, as the Indian Cricket Board was not ready to accept the ‘fusion formula’ of the ICC decision by the PCB .

‘Even Pakistani team will not come to India’

Sources said, ‘Naqvi wanted to update the Prime Minister and seek his approval if the PCB takes any step to break the deadlock of taking a tough decision on the tournament.’ The ICC headquarters in Dubai remained the center of discussion over the fusion formula offered by the PCB on hosting ICC events for the next few years. The PCB wanted the BCCI to accept a formula under which if India did not play the next ICC tournament in Pakistan, the neighboring team would not tour India for any tournament.
