Pakistan will be very stubborn! Danger of being out of Champions Trophy, loss worth crores

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: ICC Champions Trophy 2025 hosted by Pakistan. But its schedule and venue are still in suspense as the Indian government has not allowed its team to go to Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the decision. Now ICC is planning to organize this tournament under ‘hybrid model’. For this, ICC also called an emergency meeting of the Executive Board on 29 November.

ICC gave ultimatum to Pakistan

However, during this meeting, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had clearly refused to host the tournament under the ‘hybrid model’. In such a situation, ICC has given him an ultimatum. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi attended the meeting in person as he was in Dubai since Thursday to represent Pakistan. The meeting was attended online by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who will take over as ICC President on December 1.

During this meeting, the ICC made it clear to the PCB that either you adopt the ‘hybrid model’ or be ready to exit the tournament. The purpose of the meeting was to decide the schedule of the Champions Trophy, but after India refused to go to Pakistan due to security concerns, the PCB once again rejected the ‘hybrid model’, after which no consensus was reached.

ICC’s ultimatum has dealt a big blow to PCB

It is understood that most of the ICC board members were sympathetic to Pakistan’s position, but still advised PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi to accept the ‘hybrid model’ as the only solution. ICC’s ultimatum has dealt a big blow to PCB. PCB has now asked its government for one day’s time for internal discussions. If Pakistan adopts the ‘hybrid model’ then the match against India, one semi-final and the final will be held in UAE. Whereas the remaining matches will be held in Pakistan and Pakistan will have the hosting rights.

PCB will suffer loss worth crores!

Now ‘hybrid model’ is being seen as the only solution. If the tournament is postponed, PCB will have to lose hosting fees of $ 6 million (Rs 50.73 crore). This could lead to a huge decline in PCB’s annual revenue of about $350 million (about Rs 296 crore). If the ‘hybrid model’ is not adopted, the ICC may also face problems as the official broadcast star may also have to renegotiate its multi-billion dollar contract with the ICC.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi reiterated the BCCI’s stand that the Indian team cannot tour Pakistan due to security reasons. Asked about the possibility of the Indian team participating in the Champions Trophy, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “BCCI has issued a statement. There are security concerns and hence the team is unlikely to go there.”
