Senior PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has been made the Chief Minister of Punjab. Maryam is the daughter of three-time PML-N president Nawaz Sharif.

Vice President Maryam, 50, won the election as chief minister of the politically crucial Punjab province by defeating PML-N leader Rana Aftab of the PTI-backed SIC. Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan of PML-N was elected president and received 224 votes. Whereas Malik Zaheer Chaner was elected Deputy Chairman who got 220 votes.
