Pakistan cricket has once again been put to shame when veteran player Basit Ali has leveled serious allegations of match fixing against Shoaib Malik. The memories of the match fixing allegations leveled years ago against Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Aamir and Salman Butt have once again been revived. In fact, Basit Ali has accused Shoaib of deliberately defeating his team on his YouTube channel.
The veteran player raised the question
Basit Ali has once again raised the issue of the National T20 Cup held in 2005. The great Pakistani player recalled the Sialkot Stallions vs Karachi Zebras match in that tournament, in which the Stallions had to score just 25 runs in the last 4 overs. Stallions captain Shoaib Malik was at the crease after scoring a half-century and his team was on the verge of victory. Malik returned unbeaten after scoring 88 runs off 53 balls, although his team lost the match by 4 runs. Due to which questions were being raised on the innings of the Stallions and Malik.
Serious allegations against Shoaib Malik
Although Shoaib Malik tried to defend his innings in an interview after the match, people were finding it very difficult to believe him. Later, Malik was also fined. Basit Ali did not stop here, he also targeted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for appointing Malik as the mentor of the Stallions in the Champions ODI Cup 2024.
Pakistan and fixing have an old relationship
The players of the Pakistani team have been involved in match fixing for a long time. The spot fixing scandal of Mohammad Asif, Salman Butt and Mohammad Aamir made the most headlines. Apart from them, the names of many Pakistani players including Mohammad Irfan, Khalid Latif and Aaqib Javed have been linked with the match fixing case.
