After equalling Pakistan's score of 159 runs, USA scored 17 runs in the super over. In reply, Pakistan's team could score only 13 runs at the loss of one wicket. In this way, USA won the match by five runs.
Earlier, Pakistan lost the toss and batted first and scored 159 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Captain Babar Azam scored the highest 44 runs for the Pak team. However, Babar's innings was quite slow. After this, Shadab Khan (40 runs in 25 balls) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (23 runs in 16 balls) scored runs at a fast pace and took the team to a respectable score of 159. For USA, Nastush Kanigje took 3 wickets and Saurabh Netravalkar took 2 wickets. While Ali Khan and Jasdeep Singh got one success each.
On the other hand, the batsmen of the USA team started off well while chasing the target of 160 runs given by Pakistan. USA suffered the first blow at the score of 36 when opener Steven Taylor was dismissed after scoring 12 runs. After this, captain Monank Patel (50 runs) along with Andrew Gus (35 runs) made a partnership of 68 runs for the second wicket and brought the team on the path of victory. Then Gus and Monank were dismissed in one over after the other. Then the team needed 49 runs to win. However, Aaron Jones (36 runs) and Nitish Kumar (14 runs) batted strongly and the team fell one step short of the required 160 runs. After the score remained tied, a super over was played, in which USA won. For Pakistan, Mohammad Aamir, Harish Rauf and Naseem Shah got one wicket each.
