Mirzapur, 27 April (HIST). Carpet and rug craftsman Padmashree Khalil Ahmed was honored by Deputy Commissioner Industries Ashok Kumar on Saturday by giving him a bouquet and shawl. President Draupadi Murmu honored him with Padma Shri on April 22 at a program organized in New Delhi.
Deputy Commissioner Industries said that Shri Ahmed has brought fame to the carpet craft of Mirzapur in the entire country. It is a matter of pride. This is also the ODOP craft of the district. After receiving the award, more artisans will join this craft. After receiving Padma Shri, the Industries Department will further advance the ODOP product.
