Paddy Scam Case: Former Pansap district manager Jagandeep Singh Dhillon, who was declared a fugitive in the case of paddy scam worth crores of rupees in grain markets, surrendered in the court on Monday. After this, the vigilance has arrested him.

Vigilance SSP Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu said that Jagandeep was wanted in the scam of tenders related to paddy transportation in the Food and Civil Supplies Department. In this regard, a case has been registered against former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and other accused under various sections of corruption in the Ludhiana Range Police Station of the Vigilance Bureau.

The SSP said that the accused Dhillon got anticipatory bail from the High Court in September 2023, but the Supreme Court cancelled his bail order in July 2024. Since then, he was absent from duty. Due to this, the department suspended him. Since then, he has not come under the grip of Vigilance.

The SSP said that as a member of the district tender committee, Jagandeep failed to reject the tenders of some contractors involved in the scam during the period 2020-21. He allegedly colluded with these contractors and got the tenders allotted to them in exchange for bribes. In addition, Dhillon violated Section 12 (j) of the State Customs Milling Policy by transferring grain from the shops of commission agents (aadhti) Krishan Lal and Anil Jain to the shellers of his relatives in violation of relevant procedures.
