News India Live, Digital Desk: If you are a mountain lover and are thinking of taking a weekend trip to the dense forests or beautiful peaks of Karnataka (like Kudremukh, Tadiandamol or Kumara Parvata), then wait! Before picking up the keys of your car, know that the Karnataka Forest Department has now become very strict regarding the rules of trekking.

It should not happen that you travel for hours and reach the base camp of the mountain and the guard present at the gate refuses to let you inside. Let us know why the department has taken these steps and what precautions you have to take now.

After all, why are the trekkers being stopped?
In fact, in the last few months, the crowd at the popular trekking spots of Karnataka has increased tremendously. Where there should have been peace, human noise and garbage began to appear. Keeping in mind the conservation of nature and the safety of trekkers, the Forest Department has now ‘First booking, then trekking’ Strict rules have been implemented.

Now what are the new ‘fundas’ for trekking?

  1. No Online Booking, No Entry: Gone are the days when you arrived, got a receipt and went upstairs. Now you have to book the slot in advance by visiting the official website of Karnataka Eco-Tourism Development Board (KEDB). If you do not have a confirmed online booking, you are subject to being turned away at the gate.
  2. People will come within the limit: The department has fixed the number of people coming daily for each trek. This means that now Kumbh Mela will not be held there. As soon as the number is reached, booking will close.
  3. A closer look at plastic and waste: If you are carrying plastic bottles, packets of chips or anything that can be thrown in your bag, the checking at the gate will be strict. In many places, now a refundable security deposit has to be given for every plastic item, that is, you will get the money back only if you bring back the garbage.
  4. Must have a guide: Due to security reasons, many trails are no longer allowed without an official guide, so that no one gets lost in the forest.

Why is this being done?
You see, we all want to see beautiful sights, but the trash we leave behind causes great harm to wild animals and plants. The aim of the administration is not to stop trekking completely, but to stop it. ‘Responsible Tourism’ Have to change.

my advice
Whenever you make a plan, check the online status at least 10-15 days in advance. Try to go on working days instead of weekends, so that you get less crowd and can enjoy nature in peace. Also, consider the mountains as God’s home and show your wisdom by not leaving garbage there.
