All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi has raised strong questions about the China policy on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led NDA government at the Centre. He asked if there is any concrete plan to restore patrolling rights of Indian troops in Galwan, Hot Spring, Gogra, Pangong and Kailash ranges in eastern Ladakh.

Questions on Galwan and status quo

In a post on social media platform ‘X’, Owaisi alleged that the government has given up hope of restoring the status quo of April 2020 in eastern Ladakh. He asked, “Do we have any plan to restore the patrolling rights of our troops in Galwan and other disputed areas, or has this issue been completely forgotten?”

Sarcasm on diplomacy with China

Owaisi described the government’s response as inadequate regarding the formation of two new counties in China’s Hotan province and the dam being built on the Brahmaputra. He said that the recent protest and request of the Indian government will not have any impact on China.

He sarcastically said, “Modi government’s diplomacy is limited only to gifting expensive diamonds to America’s First Lady Jill Biden.”

Serious allegations on India’s internal and external security

Owaisi also raised questions on India’s internal and external security management. He termed the deteriorating situation in Manipur and other north-eastern states as the result of mismanagement. Also, the politicization of the armed forces was termed as a serious threat to external security.

He alleged that the Modi government does not allow debate on these issues in Parliament and is maintaining silence on serious matters of national security.

India’s strong opposition to China

The Indian government recently lodged a strong protest against China over the formation of two new counties in Hotan province. India termed it an “illegal and forcible occupation”, saying such steps would not legitimize China’s claim to the area.

Mention of expensive gift given to Jill Biden

Citing the US State Department report, Owaisi said that Prime Minister Modi gifted a diamond worth US $ 20,000 to US First Lady Jill Biden, which was the most expensive gift given by any world leader to the Biden family in 2023. .

Making this a basis for questioning the priorities of the government, Owaisi said that it shows to what level diplomacy has been reduced.
