Our voters thought that they will get 400, so they started roaming around, this CM's strange statement on the issue of NDA's failure

Maharashtra Politics: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has made a strange statement regarding the Lok Sabha elections 2024. He said, 'Our voters thought that we would win more than 400 seats comfortably, so they went out for a walk. Notably, out of 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, the BJP-led NDA managed to win only 17 seats, while the MVA comprising Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar) and Shiv Sena (Uddhav group) won 30 seats.

The opposition took advantage of our overconfidence: Eknath Shinde

Speaking at a joint rally of the NDA alliance in Mumbai, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “Some of our voters were roaming around during the voting and were confident that the NDA would easily win more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. This defeat tells us that a more strategic approach will be needed in the future. The opposition took advantage of our overconfidence during the Lok Sabha elections.”

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde claimed that opposition voters used their ballot papers and got nearly 80 per cent votes. He said, “If our voters had come to the polling booth, we could have easily won 40 seats. We cannot relax after facing big setbacks in the Lok Sabha elections.”

What did Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis say?

BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis supported Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's claim. He said, 'The NDA alliance leaders did not pay attention to the false narrative being spread by the opposition during the election campaign and did not try to counter it. The MVA got only a few lakh votes more than the NDA, but it won around 30 seats. They lied to the media every day. And we thought it would not have any impact on our voters. But it actually had an impact. And we were not able to deal with it effectively.'
