Mumbai: A 12-year-old girl was suffering from a rare blood disease for four years at Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children in Parel. However, after she became brain dead during treatment at Wadia Hospital, her parents decided to donate her organs. They donated kidney, liver and heart and saved the lives of four children and gave them a new life.
Vaidehi Tanwade (age 12), an eighth grade student in Santa Cruz, was diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) in September 2020. This is a serious disease. In this disease, blood does not clot. In this, the wound bleeds more than normal or the body may start bleeding without any reason. Therefore, Vaidehi was treated for four years. Last week, Vaidehi was admitted to Wadia Hospital on Saturday morning after vomiting blood. But during treatment, the doctors declared her brain dead.
After being declared brain dead, the hospital administration advised her parents about organ donation. After this, the parents decided to donate Vaidehi's kidney, liver and heart.
Wadia Hospital praised Vaidehi's parents for taking the courageous decision to donate their daughter's organs. These parents lost their daughter, but saved the lives of four patients.
In which a kidney was given to a patient of Wadia Hospital. While the other kidney was given to the Municipal Corporation Hospital. Therefore, the liver was taken to a private hospital in Parel and the heart to a private hospital in Chennai.
