‘Cyclone Arnab’, which is developing due to the new seasonal disturbance in the Bay of Bengal, is now becoming a matter of great concern for the eastern coastal and plain states of India. According to the latest weather forecast released by the Meteorological Center (IMD Ranchi), this cyclonic storm and the low pressure area formed with it will have a direct and widespread impact on the weather of Jharkhand. There is a possibility of thunder, strong winds and torrential rains along with movement of clouds in the state for the next few days. In view of the seriousness of the situation, the Meteorological Department has issued Orange Alert and Yellow Alert for many major and sensitive districts of the state till November 29. Due to the impact of the cyclone, not only will there be a huge drop in temperature, but clouds of crisis are also looming over the crops of the farmers harvesting paddy. Let us know which districts of Jharkhand are going to be most affected by this cyclonic storm and what guidelines have been issued by the government and administration for the general public.
#1 ‘Orange alert’ issued for these districts: torrential rains and winds will blow at a speed of 40-50 km
According to the warning of the Meteorological Department, the maximum and direct impact of cyclonic storm ‘Arnab’ will be seen in the southern, south-eastern and central parts of Jharkhand. The department has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ of heavy rain and thunderstorm especially for East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur), West Singhbhum (Chaibasa), Seraikela-Kharsawan, Simdega, Khunti and Ranchi districts. Moderate to heavy rains may be recorded in these districts till November 29. Along with this, due to the effect of coastal winds, there is every possibility of a strong storm with a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. The administration has strongly advised people in Orange Alert areas to avoid non-essential travel, stay away from kutcha houses and trees and take shelter in pucca houses during lightning.
#1 ‘Yellow alert’ in these districts including Ranchi, Bokaro and Dhanbad: Know how the weather will be.
In view of the wide spread of the cyclone, ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for central and north-eastern parts of Jharkhand. Light to moderate rain with thunder has been predicted in districts like capital Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Gumla, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka and Jamtara. Meteorologists say that the entire state will remain cloudy till November 29 and sightings of the Sun may become rare. The day temperature can drop by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, which will suddenly increase shivering and chills. However, a slight increase in the minimum night temperature may be seen due to the presence of clouds, but as soon as the rains stop, there are full chances of severe cold starting in the state.
#1 Farmers busy harvesting ripe paddy crop are worried, Meteorological Department gave this great advice
In Jharkhand, this time is the main season of Kharif crop i.e. harvesting of paddy and drying of grains in barns. This unseasonal rain due to cyclonic storm Arnab has drawn lines of worry on the foreheads of lakhs of farmers in the state. There is a great danger of the paddy crop standing and harvested in the fields getting spoiled by drowning in water. Keeping this in mind, Birsa Agricultural University and Meteorological Center Ranchi have issued agricultural advisory for farmers. Farmers have been advised to immediately transport the crops that have already been harvested to safe places or barns by covering them with tarpaulins. Apart from this, make immediate arrangements for drainage to prevent water logging in the field and completely stop any kind of chemical spraying or application of fertilizers in the crops for the next few days.
#1 District administration and disaster management team on alert mode, emergency number issued
In view of the threat of cyclonic storm ‘Arnab’, the Disaster Management Department of Jharkhand Government and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of all the concerned districts have become fully alert. NDRF and SDRF teams have been kept on standby in sensitive areas. The electricity department has been instructed to immediately repair damage caused to transformers and wires due to strong winds or falling trees so that power supply is not disrupted. Urban local bodies have been asked to ensure cleaning of drains so that waterlogging does not arise. Citizens have been appealed to rely only on official information and alerts related to weather and in case of any emergency, immediately contact the helpline numbers of the District Disaster Management Control Room.
