Mumbai: The Meteorological Department has indicated today that there is heavy rain in entire Maharashtra including Mumbai. Especially today on July 15, an orange alert jar has been issued for Mumbai due to excessive activity of more than one natural factor.
An orange alert has been issued for Mumbai for the next 24 hours (July 16), while heavy rains (yellow alert) are expected in Mumbai from July 17 to 19.
Sunil Kamble, Deputy Director General of Meteorological Department (Mumbai Center), told Gujarat News that this morning, heavy rains occurred in Dahinsar, Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Ram Mandir to Andheri and Bandra in the west of Mumbai. While in the east, Matunga, Byculla, Chembur also received satisfactory rain. However, the intensity of rain decreased after noon.
At the same time, there are reports of heavy torrential rains in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg of Konkan and Pune, Satara, Kolhapur of Central Maharashtra.
Currently, an offshore trough (drop in atmospheric pressure) has formed in the sky from South Gujarat to North Kerala coast, along with this a shear zone (collision of winds coming from two opposite directions) has formed at a distance of 3.1 to 7.6 km. The sky of the same area has also been affected a lot. Also, low pressure (light pressure belt of air: not a factor in low pressure and cyclone formation in the Bay of Bengal) has also formed in the sky over the Bay of Bengal. Due to the heavy impact of this factor formed in the Bay of Bengal, the monsoon has become very intense, so it is raining in Mumbai as well.
All such natural factors have been favourable and intense too. Due to which there has been heavy rain in entire Maharashtra including Mumbai.
The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the nearby Thane and Palghar for the next 24 hours (July 16), so an orange alert has been issued for both these cities. While heavy rain (yellow alert) is expected in Thane and Palghar during July 17 to 19.
Along with this, a red alert has been issued for Raigad and Ratnagiri of Konkan on July 16 due to torrential rains caused by stormy natural factors. Also, from July 17 to 19, there will be Srikar Varsha (yellow alert) in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg. There is a possibility.
Also, during these days, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in Pune, Satara, Kolhapur of Central Maharashtra.
Today, Colaba recorded a maximum and minimum temperature of 28.0 degrees Celsius while Santacruz recorded a maximum and minimum temperature of 28.5 degrees Celsius while Santacruz recorded a minimum and maximum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius.
