Dehradun, 26 August (HS). State President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahendra Bhatt has advised all parties to understand the constitutional process related to the body and avoid political statements. He says that the opposition should now stop making confusing statements for political gain. The government has already sent the bill to the Select Committee and has talked about a special session soon after the report.

State President Mahendra Bhatt said in a statement that Congress also knows that the amendment bill in the Corporation and Body Act was presented in the Assembly in view of the Commission's report on OBC reservation. Many MLAs had some objections to it, so it has been handed over to the Select Committee. The government has already clarified that soon after the Select Committee's report comes, a special session will be called and it will be passed. After the bill is passed, a notification of OBC reservation will be issued through the District Magistrate and objections and suggestions will be sought on it. There is a fixed process of conducting elections only after receiving reports from all the districts.

Accusing the Congress of misleading the public in its over enthusiasm, he claimed that whenever the civic elections are held, the BJP's victory is certain. Last time we had won 5 out of 7 municipal mayor seats with record votes. BJP is sure to win in most of the 99 municipal bodies of the state. On the other hand, the entire opposition, including the Congress party, is at its lowest level in civic bodies after continuous defeats. Hence, for them, this election is just an attempt to get an opportunity.

He said that the BJP organization is always ready for elections while working among the people but being a responsible party, it believes in following all the constitutional procedures related to elections. It is not right for the Congress to show so much impatience for its crushing defeat in the civic elections.
