Opposition ready to surround the government on many issues including Kumbh Mela disaster

Budget Session 2025: The budget session of Parliament is starting from today. All -party meeting was called today before the budget session. In this meeting, opposition parties have demanded a discussion on the Mahakumbh disaster in Parliament.

Opposition parties have alleged that the government is focusing on VIPs instead of focusing on common devotees. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the Business Advisory Committee will decide on the agenda of the budget session starting from 31 January.

This meeting was chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. In this meeting, the government appealed to the opposition parties to cooperate in the proceedings of Parliament.

President Draupadi Murmu will address a joint meeting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at the beginning of the budget session. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the general budget on 1 February.

The first phase of the budget session will run till 13 February. While the second phase will start from March 10. Which will end on 4 April.

For the budget session starting today, the government has decided to consider the Bills including the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and three other new laws.

It is noteworthy that the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) has submitted its report on the Waqf Bill to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Due to which the government can now move forward with this bill. The other three new bills include the conservation of interests in aircraft goods, Tribhuvan Cooperative University Bill and Immigration and Foreign Bill.

Apart from this, 10 other bills are pending in both houses from the previous session. The Finance Bill, 2025 will also be introduced in this session.
