Opium worth Rs 28 lakh recovered, six opium smugglers arrested | News India

Shahjahanpur, 03 October (Hindustan Reporter). Shahjahanpur Police has arrested six drug smugglers from different police station areas and recovered about nine kilograms of opium from their possession. Its price in the international market is said to be Rs 28 lakh.

A joint team of SOG, Surveillance Cell and Roza police station has arrested four drug smugglers from near Atsaliya bridge in Roza area at around 8 am on Wednesday morning. The smugglers caught are Yogendra Kumar, Ramjeevan Kumar, Bablu Kumar, residents of Jharkhand and Arvind Kumar, resident of Tilhar area of ​​Shahjahanpur police station, from whose possession 8 kg 354 grams of opium has been recovered.

ASP told that the price of recovered opium is around twenty-five lakh rupees in the international market. These people bring opium from Jharkhand at a low price and then sell it in Delhi and its surrounding areas.

Apart from this, Jaitipur police has arrested two drug smugglers riding a motorcycle near Nawada Mode located in the police station area. The smugglers caught are Shoyab and Aash Mohammad, residents of Badaun district.

Area Officer Tilhar Amit Chaurasia said that 969 grams of high quality opium has been recovered from the smugglers, whose price in the international market is Rs 3 lakh. The caught smugglers bring opium from farmers cultivating opium in Badaun and then make small bundles of it and sell it in Shahjahanpur, Bareilly and other areas. Even today these people were going towards Fatehganj East to sell opium.
