OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and his partner Oliver Mulherin have committed to donating their wealth by signing the Giving Pledge. Launched in 2010 by Bill Guest, Melinda French Gates and Warren Buffett, the campaign encourages the world's wealthiest individuals to give away as much of their wealth as they wish to charities during their lifetime.
“We would not be making this promise if it weren’t for the hard work, talent, generosity and dedication to making the world a better place of the many people who make up society,” Altman and Mulherin wrote.
According to the report, Altman does not own any shares in OpenAI but he did make it to Forbes and Bloomberg's billionaires lists earlier this year.
Altman has made significant investments in a variety of startups. He has invested in companies such as Reddit and Stripe. He also has stakes in nuclear energy startup Helion and long-term biotech startup Retro Biosciences.
