Talking about green vegetables, capsicum, bottle gourd and spinach are being sold at Rs 100 per kg in many markets. After the increase in the prices of vegetables, it is becoming difficult for common people to manage their kitchen budget.
Why are vegetables becoming expensive?
Vegetable wholesalers say that traffic has been affected due to heavy rains. Apart from this, the yield has also been affected due to heavy rains. Vegetables are arriving late in metros due to which their prices are skyrocketing. Low productivity is also a reason. This year there has been heavy rain in Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and other states. Due to this the prices of vegetables have increased.

This year also the government has started selling onions on subsidy to control onion prices. The government is selling onions at a concessional rate of Rs 35 per kg from September 5, 2024.
Tomatoes will be sold at discounted prices
The prices of tomatoes are also continuously increasing. Tomato is being sold at Rs 80 to 100 per kg in Delhi markets. In such a situation, it is expected that the government will also sell tomatoes at concessional rates to control the prices. Till now the government has not given any official information in this regard.
