He further said that King Parikshit, full of ego, put a dead snake around the neck of Shamik Rishi who was meditating in the forest. As a result, King Parikshit was cursed to die in a week. When Parikshit removed the golden crown from his head, the influence of Kali Yuga ended on him and he realized his mistake. But by then it was too late.
