One person died while 16 people were injured in this incident.
Student injured in firing, accused in custody
According to reports, the 18-year-old youth who was the victim of indiscriminate firing was not a university student, but many university students were also among the injured. The police have now arrested the accused who opened fire. 12 people were injured in the firing and four others received minor injuries.
The university said in a statement that the parents of the person killed in the shooting have been notified. Several other people, including Tuskegee University students, were injured and are being treated at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika and Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery.
According to the information received, the local official said that the body will be examined at the State Forensic Center in Montgomery. The injured in the firing incident include a student who was shot in the stomach and a student who was shot in the arm.
After receiving information about the firing, the police immediately reached the university and arrested the accused and initiated criminal proceedings against him. The parents of the injured students have been informed over phone.
