One crore twenty lakhs will be spent for water conservation

Mirzapur, July 29 (HS). Continuous efforts are being made to save water through rooftop rain water harvesting system. In the financial year 2024-25, rooftop rain water harvesting system will be installed on 43 government and semi-government buildings in the district. One crore 20 lakh rupees will be spent this year for water conservation. Along with this, people will also be motivated to conserve water.

Senior Geophysicist of Ground Water Department Swapnil Kumar Rai said that according to the Geophysical Survey, there is some relief in 2023 as compared to post monsoon 2022. The water level has increased from 7.03 to 9.45 meters. Whereas pre monsoon has increased from 10.99 to 11.31. For pre monsoon 2024, after measurement till June 15, 12.16 meters have been recorded. That is, an increase of 2.71 meters has been recorded. The development block of the district Majhawan is in critical, City, Chanbe and Sikhar are in semi-critical zone. Whereas Kon block has been placed in the category of over exploited.

AE Murari Yadav of the Minor Irrigation Department said that the Minor Irrigation Department has set a target of installing rooftop rain water harvesting system on 43 government and semi-government buildings in the financial year 2024-25. Under the scheme, it will be installed in development blocks City, Kon and Majhwa this year. He said that if we still do not wake up regarding water conservation, then we will have to face drinking water problem in the coming days. People are being made aware to conserve water so that the future generation does not have to face the crisis of drinking water. Along with this, special emphasis is being laid on installing roof top rain water harvesting system for water conservation.
