Khunti, June 10 (HS). Based on a secret information received by a senior officer of the police department, the police raided the road leading to Siladon Chukru turn in Khunti police station area on Monday and recovered 348 kg of opium doda loaded on an auto tempo. In this case, auto driver Rohit Mahato, resident of Siladon, has been arrested.
Sub-divisional police officer of Khunti, Varun Rajak, issued a press release late on Monday evening and said that a senior police officer had received secret information on Sunday that a plan has been made to take illegal doda from the forest around village Taro in a three-wheeler tempo and take it through Siladon. On the basis of the said information, taking immediate action in the light of the order of the senior officer, intensive checking was started on the road from Siladon to Chukru in Khunti police station area. Around 2 in the afternoon, a white bullet motorcycle was seen coming. The police signaled it to stop, but the bike rider threw the motorcycle and ran away. After some time, a red coloured tempo was seen, on stopping which the tempo driver also tried to run away, who was caught with the help of armed force.
When the tempo's container was checked, it was found that doda was loaded in 19 plastic bags which were being carried covered with a yellow tarpaulin. On questioning the tempo driver, he said that the doda belonged to the person riding the white Bullet motorcycle. He was driving ahead to carry the doda. The police seized the tempo and the Bullet motorcycle along with the doda.
