On the third Monday of Shravan month, devotees flock to Shiva temples to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Mahadev, the God of Gods

Kanpur, 05 August (HS). On the third Monday of Shravan month, devotees have been thronging the Shiva temples from dawn to offer water and worship Adi Dev Mahadev. When the doors of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple were opened for the devotees, the devotees standing in the queue had darshan of Mahadev and offered water one by one. This process will continue throughout the day today.

Long queues of devotees were seen since dawn to perform Jalabhishek in all the Shiva temples including Anandeshwar, Siddheshwar Nath, Bhuteshwar Nath, Vankhandeshwar, Thaneshwar, Kotwaleshwar, Jhagdeshwar, Bhuteshwar Mahadev. The district administration had put up barricades about 200 meters before the temple to check the movement of vehicles.

In view of security, heavy police force and temple administration sevadars are deployed in all the Shiva temples of the city. On the instructions of the Police Commissioner, all Shiva temples are being monitored with CCTV cameras and drones. Police force, PAC, divers have been deployed on all the ghats of Ganga since the first Monday of the month of Shravan. Apart from this, secret security agencies are also active in view of security at Shiva temples and ghats.
