Chitrakoot, 02 September (HS). On Somvati Amavasya of Bhado month, a wave of faith surged in Lord Shri Ram's Tapobhoomi Chitrakoot. More than 15 lakh devotees from all over the country, after taking a holy dip in the holy mother Mandakini, performed Jalabhishek of Mat Gajendra Nath established by Lord Brahma at Ramghat. After this, for the fulfillment of wishes, they prayed to Lord Kamatnath and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the country by doing Panchkosi Parikrama of Kamadgiri mountain. Keeping in view the huge number of devotees who turned up at the Amavasya fair, the UP-MP government-administration had made tight security arrangements in the fair area.
On Bhadai Amavasya, Lord Shri Ram's Tapabhoomi Chitrakoot, renowned as a world famous mythological pilgrimage, echoed with the chants of Lord Shri Kamatnath, the fulfiller of wishes. Lakhs of devotees from all over the country, after taking a holy dip in the purifying river Mandakini, which appeared due to the penance of Mata Sati Anusuya, performed Jalabhishek of the first Shivling Swami Mat Gajendra Nath of the universe, established by Lord Brahma. After this, they visited and worshipped Lord Kamatnath to fulfill their wishes. After many years, due to the influx of devotees, there was no place to even stand in the Ram Ghat and Kamadgiri Parikrama of Mandakini since morning. In view of the influx of faith, the district administration of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh had made elaborate arrangements for security etc. Devotees started coming a day before on Sunday itself for bathing on the Bhadai Amavasya festival. Late night, lakhs of devotees reached the holy city by train, buses, private vehicles and bikes.
Ahidanlirah: The process of bathing and donating money started at Ram Ghat on Monday early in the morning and continued till late evening. It is estimated that around 15 lakh devotees will reach Chitrakoot and do the parikrama of Lord Kamatnath. For the convenience of the devotees, the Railways has arranged fair special trains and the Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation has arranged additional buses. Divers have been deployed for the safety of the devotees in the Mandakini river. Besides this, the officials of the UP and MP district administration and police teams kept patrolling their respective areas in the fair area. In view of the fair, special welcome gates have been made and decorated near Bedi Pulia Chauraha, Ramayan Mela and Ramghat.
Under the direction of District Magistrate Shivsharanappa GN and Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh, Additional District Magistrate Umesh Chandra Nigam, Additional Superintendent of Police Chakrapani Tripathi, Sub-District Magistrate Sadar Saurabh Yadav, Police Circle Officer Rajkamal visited the fair area since morning and took stock of the arrangements. At the same time, Nagar Palika's EO Lalji Yadav remained busy with the team in improving the cleanliness arrangements of the fair area.
Mahant Madan Gopal Das Maharaj of Kamadgiri main gate says that Chitrakoot is a world famous pilgrimage. Lord Shri Ram spent 11 and a half years of his exile period here. It is believed that on the day of Amavasya, the person who takes a bath in the holy water of Mandakini and circumambulates the Kamadgiri mountain, all the problems of his life go away.
On the occasion of Amavasya, Mahant Divya Jeevan Das Maharaj of Bharat Mandir said that Kusha is worshipped on the day of Amavasya in Bhadrapada. Lord Shri Ram had offered Kusha to his father Dasharath in Mandakini. On this day, farmers offer Kusha to Lord Kamatnath and pray for the happiness and prosperity of the country.
