On the pretext of server upgrade, information on births and deaths was stopped for two weeks

Mumbai: For the last two weeks, the city residents have not received the birth and death records issued by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The municipality is making the excuse that the system is being updated. People get the answer that the server in the municipal corporation office is down.

A few years ago, people had to make several rounds to the divisional office of the municipality to register birth or death. If any correction was to be made in this, then the employees and officers had to do Bhaisaab Bapa. But the municipality started providing both these documents through a computerized system a few years ago and the citizens got relief from many problems.

In the last two weeks, many people have applied for birth or death records in various ward offices of the municipality. But still they have not received that important document. Due to the new computerized system, it has become very easy to get these forms but due to technical problem, citizens could not get both these forms for two weeks. As soon as a child is born, its registration is done in the concerned hospital and the hospital sends the information of the child's birth to the division office of Mumbai Municipal Corporation in the same complex. After a few days this certificate is given to the guardian of the child. Similarly, if someone dies, first the death certificate is obtained from the hospital, later it has to be submitted to the division office of the municipality. Where the death pattern is prepared. From people's inheritance cases to admission in higher education, many processes including passport are stalled.
