Guwahati, 16 December (HS). Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is on an official visit to Bhutan from 16 to 19 December at the invitation of the Royal Government of Bhutan. Along with the Chief Minister, senior officials of the state government are also involved in this yatra.
During the visit, Dr. Sarma will meet His Majesty the King of Bhutan and His Majesty Gyaltsen and pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister. Apart from this, the Chief Minister will also participate in the National Day celebrations of Bhutan.
The visit is particularly significant as it is the first official visit of the Chief Minister of Assam to Bhutan. Bhutan and Assam have historically enjoyed close friendly and neighborly relations. This visit will further strengthen these relations and will help in establishing closer ties between Bhutan and Assam.
