On the occasion of World Mosquito Day, the students of Saraswati Shishu Balika Vidya Mandir, Raj Deodi, Bettiah were made aware about the prevention of vector diseases by the personnel of the District Malaria Office. District Vector Born Disease Control Officer Dr. Harendra Kumar said on Tuesday that awareness is being spread in the district about the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, chikungunya, kala-azar, filariasis etc.
He said that during monsoon, the mosquito menace increases a lot, and if treatment is not given on time, there is a risk of serious diseases. To make people aware about this, World Mosquito Day is celebrated every year on 20th August and common people are told about the dangers caused by mosquitoes. Along with this, measures are also told to protect oneself from them.
VDS Prakash Kumar, Sujeet Kumar said that cleanliness is necessary to avoid mosquito bites, while use of mosquito net while sleeping is beneficial.
Vector Borne Disease Control Officer Dr. Harendra Kumar said that in case of vector borne disease, its testing and treatment facilities are available in government hospitals and medical colleges. He said that the symptoms of dengue are high fever, headache, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, severe muscle pain. Malaria is caused by a special kind of parasite, which enters the body through the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito. Pregnant women and children are at greater risk of malaria. The symptoms of malaria include chills, body ache, fever, diarrhea, stress and fatigue, anemia, dizziness.
At the same time, a meeting was held in the District Malaria Office under the chairmanship of Dr. Harendra Kumar to create awareness in this regard in which BDCO Ramesh Mishra, BDDS Prakash Kumar, Sujit Kumar, Data Operator Stephen Kumar and other health workers were present.
