Kanpur, 19 August (HS). On the fifth and last Monday of the month of Shravan, devotees have been thronging the Shiva temples since dawn, chanting Jai Shiv Shankar and Bam Bam Bhole, to perform Jalabhishek and worship of Lord of Gods, Mahadev. There has been a rush of devotees since dawn to perform Jalabhishek of Baba Bholenath. When the doors of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple were opened for the devotees, a large number of devotees were waiting for their turn outside the sanctum sanctorum.
Long queues of devotees were seen since early morning to perform Jalabhishek in all the Shiva temples located in Kanpur city including Anandeshwar, Siddheshwar Nath, Bhuteshwar Nath, Vankhandeshwar, Thaneshwar, Kotwaleshwar, Jhagdeshwar, Bhuteshwar Mahadev.
On this occasion, International Spokesperson of Juna Akhara Narayan Giri Maharaj wished all the devotees and all the brothers and sisters of the country on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and after offering water to Lord Bholenath and taking his blessings, appealed to the people to take responsibility of planting saplings and protecting them. The district administration has put up barricades about 200 meters before the temple to check the movement of vehicles and policemen are checking them.
In view of security, a huge police force and temple administration servants have made tight arrangements for the safety of all the devotees in all the Shiva temples of the city. On the instructions of the Police Commissioner, all Shiva temples are being monitored with CCTV cameras and drones.
Due to the rising water level of Ganga on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the fifth and last Monday of the month of Shravan, the police is appealing to the devotees to bathe only within the prescribed barricades, otherwise they may become victims of some untoward incident. Police force, PAC, divers have been deployed on the Ghats. Apart from this, secret security agencies are also active in view of security at Shiva temples and Ghats.
