Abohar : On the festival of Holi, a youth from village Doda allegedly ended his life by hanging himself in his house due to the village in-charge not granting him leave for Holi. On the other hand, the police has kept the dead body in the mortuary of the government hospital and has started processing the statements of the family members.

According to the information received, 24-year-old deceased Arjun, son of Lal Chand, used to work for a landlord of the village. It is being told that the deceased had asked for leave from his employer to celebrate Holi the previous day and also demanded to pay the previous dues. According to the allegation, the employer snatched his mobile phone and also beat the young man.

Saddened by this beating, Arjun came to his home and ended his life by hanging himself, but meanwhile other members of his family were celebrating Holi with great pomp. In this case, the police have registered a case based on the statements of his mother and brother while keeping the body in the mortuary and the matter is being investigated thoroughly.

Police station in-charge Jaswinder Singh, who was present on the spot, said that he went to the village and investigated and it is being told that the deceased Arjun was addicted to drinking alcohol and he often had fights with his family members. But since the reason for the case was not clear, action has been taken under section 174.

On the other hand, the family members say that the police will investigate the matter seriously and have assured to take action. After assurance from the police, his family performed his last rites.
