Who is Lord Parshuram?

Lord Parashuram was born to Maharishi Jamdagni and mother Renuka of Bhrigu clan. His original name was ‘Ram’, but due to his bravery and the ‘Parshu’ (axe) which was always in his hand, he was called Parashuram. He was not only a great scholar but was also unique in warfare skills. He is considered the god of justice, who established religion on earth by suppressing the unrighteous Haihaya dynasty kings.

Had received ‘Shastra Vidya’ and divine ‘Parshu’ from Mahadev.

The biggest specialty of Parshuram ji is his ‘Parshu’ i.e. axe. According to mythology, Lord Parashurama performed rigorous penance for Lord Shiva. Pleased with his devotion, Mahadev not only made him his disciple but also gave him the knowledge of martial arts and invincible weapons. As a result of this penance, Lord Shiva gave him his divine ‘Parshu’, due to which he became invincible.

Importance and method of worship of Parshuram Jayanti

According to religious beliefs, bathing in holy rivers and doing charity on the day of Parshuram Jayanti has special significance. On this day, Parashuram ji is worshiped along with Lord Vishnu.
