New Delhi, 26 July (HS). On Friday, the government was asked a question in the Rajya Sabha on the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP). On this, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the government is committed to ensure that the benefits of MSP reach the farmers. However, the opposition appeared angry with the government's answer and its leaders tried to corner the government on this issue.

It is noteworthy that farmer organizations are agitating for the demand of legal guarantee of MSP. Recently, farmer leaders met Congress President Rahul Gandhi in Parliament regarding this issue. Even before this, farmer leaders have been raising this issue along with other opposition leaders.

In his reply in Rajya Sabha, Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the government is committed to ensure that the full benefit of MSP reaches the farmers of the country. Therefore, a committee has been formed by the government to provide MSP to the farmers of the country and to give suggestions to make this system more effective and transparent. Also, the committee has been asked to examine the feasibility of giving more autonomy to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and ways to make it more scientific. Along with this, it has also been entrusted with the responsibility of giving suggestions to strengthen the agricultural marketing system according to the changing needs of the country with the aim of ensuring higher prices. This committee is also working on the topics of natural farming and crop diversification.

He informed that the meetings of this committee are being held regularly and 6 meetings have been held so far since July 22, 2022. Apart from this, 35 meetings of various sub-committees have also been held on the above subjects.

Chauhan said that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy and farmers are its soul. Serving farmers is like worshipping God for us. The minimum support price (MSP) rates have been constantly increased to give farmers a fair price. There has been an unprecedented increase in the minimum support price (MSP) of crops. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, purchases have been made at the maximum MSP. This year too, the government will buy whatever amount of tur, masoor and urad the farmers produce.

Against this, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, while talking to journalists at Vijay Chowk, said that today is a 'black day' for farmers in India. The horrific conspiratorial face of the Modi government has been exposed. The Agriculture Minister of the country refused to make a law guaranteeing MSP to farmers and farm laborers. Not only this, he also refused to fix MSP at C2 + 50 percent. Crores of farmers of the country will never forgive this arrogance of the Modi government.
