After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh, Hindus are being continuously attacked. In Bangladesh, elements have vandalized many houses, shops and temples. Many people have lost their lives in these attacks so far. Now the United Nations has condemned this attack.
The United Nations has taken a tough stand on the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. Let us tell you that the minority Hindu community is being persecuted during the violence in Bangladesh. This includes acts like rape of women and girls, killing of people, burning houses, vandalism, assault etc. Amidst these incidents of attack on Hindus, the spokesperson of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that he is against any kind of attack or incitement of violence on ethnic basis. They have targeted the people of Bangladesh for this.
“It is clear that we want to bring the violence that has been taking place in Bangladesh in recent weeks under control,” Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said here on Thursday. “Of course we are against any kind of attack or incitement to violence on ethnic grounds.” He was responding to questions on the Secretary-General's reaction to attacks on Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh. Several Hindu temples, homes and businesses have been vandalised in the violence that has continued since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday and fled the country to India.
