New Delhi: The results of Jammu Kashmir and Haryana assembly elections have been declared. According to the results declared on Tuesday, BJP is going to form the government in Haryana after winning the elections for the third consecutive time. At the same time, National Conference, the party of Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, is going to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. Congress's hopes of victory in Haryana were dashed and it had to face a crushing defeat. Out of 90 seats in Haryana, BJP has won 48 seats, while Congress has won 37 seats.

In Haryana, for the first time since 1967, the public has made a party victorious for the third consecutive time. After 2014, BJP has retained power for the third time in 2019 and now in 2024.

In the last five years, the issues of farmers have been the most discussed in Haryana. During this period, two big farmer movements were also seen. After the recent farmers' movement, BJP removed Manohar Lal Khattar from the post of Chief Minister and handed over the command to OBC leader Naib Singh Saini. Who gave the credit of victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the election results.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also described Haryana's victory as a great victory and said that the politics of development and good governance has won. Modi later addressed BJP workers at the party headquarters in Delhi. After the election results, the picture has become clear that Naib Singh Saini will become the Chief Minister of Haryana while Omar Abdullah will become the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. For the first time after the removal of Article 370, assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir, the results of which were declared along with Haryana. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah's party has lost to the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir.

The National Conference, which contested the elections in alliance with the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir, has won 49 seats, while the BJP has also won 29 seats. In the 90-seat Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, 46 seats are required to form the government. So National Conference and Congress or PDP will together form the government. His father Farooq Abdullah announced that National Conference's Omar Abdullah would become the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

There was no elected government in Jammu and Kashmir for six years; the Supreme Court had ordered elections to be held by September. So finally the elections took place. Before the removal of 370, there was a coalition government of PDP and BJP which was elected in 2014.

Omar Abdullah, who had lost power at that time, had then said that he would win again. As soon as he returned to power after 10 years, his tweet is now going viral on social media. Farooq Abdullah said on Monday that if needed, Mehbooba Mufti's party will form the government with PDP. National Conference currently has 42 seats and will need the support of four seats to reach the majority mark of 46. The National Conference has the option of Congress and PDP.

BJP state president Ravindra Raina lost in Jammu and Kashmir, although the party's vote share increased from 23 percent in 2014 to 25.64 percent in 10 years.

In the 2014 elections, Mehbooba Mufti's party PDP came to power by getting 28 seats, but in this election the public rejected it and gave it only three seats. Mehbooba Mufti's daughter herself lost the election. Whereas earlier Congress had got 12 seats, now after the reduction of six it has to be satisfied with only six. Vote share has also reduced from 18 percent to 12 percent.

Exit polls failed to gauge the mood of voters

Like the Lok Sabha elections, once again the exit polls turned out to be wrong.

– Most of the exit polls claimed that Congress would get a clear majority in Haryana.

Most exit polls predicting a clear majority for Congress in Haryana and a hung assembly in Jammu and Kashmir have failed to understand the mood of the voters.

The actual results are showing that BJP is going to form the government in Haryana for a record third time while in Jammu and Kashmir, the strongholds of National Conference and Congress, they are easily coming to power.

It is noteworthy that in most of the exit polls it was estimated that Congress would get more than 50 seats and BJP would get around 30 seats in Haryana.

C-Water India Today exit poll claimed that Congress will get 50 to 58 seats and BJP will get 20 to 28 seats. Republic of India – Matrice claimed that Congress will get 55 to 62 seats and BJP will get 18 to 24 seats.

However, in the actual result, BJP got 48 seats in Haryana, while Congress got 37 seats.

In the Republic-Gulistan poll, National Conference is expected to get 28 to 30 seats, Congress 3 to 6 and BJP 28 to 30 seats.

However, in the actual result, National Conference has got 42 seats, Congress 6 and BJP 29 seats in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier during the Lok Sabha elections, most of the exit polls had predicted BJP getting more than 350 seats. However, actually BJP got 240 seats.

Kashmiris attacked the separatists and seized the deposits of many people.

The results of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections have been declared. In which the separatists had to face a crushing defeat. The people of Kashmir have supported the separatists including Engineer Rashid. There was no significant impact on parties like Rashid's party Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) and Jamaat-e-Islami. The deposits of most of the candidates of these two parties have also been confiscated.

However, Engineer Rashid's brother Khurshid Ahmed Shaikh won from Langat seat. While Jamaat-e-Islami supporter candidate Ayar Ahmed won from Kulgam. Azaz Ahmed Guru, brother of Afzal Guru, lost from Sopore. He got only 129 votes. NOTA got more votes than him i.e. 341 votes.

Engineer Rashid's party had fielded 44 candidates, most of whose deposits have been forfeited. One of their candidates, Sheikh Ashiq, got 963 votes, while NOTA got 1713 votes. One out of four Jamaat-e-Islami candidates lost. The people of Jammu and Kashmir rejected the politics of separatism.
