National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah reached Raj Bhavan late on Friday evening to stake claim to form government in Jammu and Kashmir. Where he met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and handed over letters of support received from the parties. After meeting LG, Omar Abdullah said that he has handed over the support letters of Congress, CPM, AAP and independents to Manoj Sinha. He has also been requested to fix the date of the swearing-in ceremony.
LG will send the documents first to Rashtrapati Bhavan and then to the Home Ministry.

The swearing in ceremony may take place on Wednesday
Omar Abdullah was unanimously elected the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir by National Conference MLAs on 10 August. Today he got the support of some independent MLAs along with AAP and Congress, after which he asked for an appointment with the LG. Meanwhile, after meeting LG Manoj Sinha, Omar Abdullah talked about organizing the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday.
Jammu will not be neglected in the government: Omar Abdullah
Abdullah said that he has submitted the letter of support to the LG for government formation. This will take two-three days. So they will hold the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday if it happens before Tuesday. Omar Abdullah further said, 'I just want to say that Jammu will not be neglected in this government.' It is noteworthy that National Conference has got negligible seats in Jammu division.
'Process to remove President's rule started'
National Conference tweeted on social media that Omar Abdullah met the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar. He claimed to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir. Raj Bhavan said that the process of removing President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir has started from tonight and it will take 3-4 days. As soon as this process is completed, the Chief Minister and his ministers will take oath.
Assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time since 2014.
For the first time after 2014, assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir. In which NC-Congress alliance got majority. National Conference got a total of 42 seats and Congress got 6 seats. In the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, BJP won a total of 29 seats, while AAP won one and PDP won three seats. While 6 seats have gone to independent candidates.
